Started as the Ukrainian Professional and Businessmen’s Club in 1960 (women were not allowed until 1978), UCPBA Calgary has been organizing events and supporting its members for over 65 years.

The meetings of the original group were held at the historic St. Louis Hotel in downtown Calgary, then owned by one of its members, John Starchuk. These events, at which Ukrainian food was served (of course), became quite a draw and the group quickly outgrew the banquet room at the St. Louis and had to move to the Westward Hotel, also owned by a member.
