The Canada Ukraine Foundation is a non-profit for the 21st century: a professionally run, creative-thinking entity that has recognized some of the pressing needs of the Ukrainian nation and has pulled together the resources required to meet some of these needs. Medical team on the ground post-Maidan? Provision of artificial limbs to injured soldiers? Post-traumatic stress disorder? CUF has its fingers in all these pies. President Victor Hetmanczuk will give us a glimpse into some of the ways in which CUF continues to respond to the changing political and economic landscape in Ukraine by thinking outside of the box – and delivering.
The Canada Ukraine Foundation (CUF) was established by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) in order to coordinate, develop, organize and deliver assistance projects generated by Canadians and directed to Ukraine. CUF has initiated and conducted humanitarian, medical, cultural, educational and business-related projects. Among its current projects are Operation Rainbow Medical Mission in Ukraine, the Ukraine Prosthetic Assistance Project and the Holodomor National Awareness Tour.
Victor Hetmanczuk is the President and CEO of the Canada Ukraine Foundation. After spending 30 years in the oil sector working as a Chemical Engineer and Logistician, he filled Executive Positions in the Canadian Charity sector for 13 years. He is currently consulting with start-up Lubricants Blending Company. Mr. Hetmanczuk is actively involved with the Ukrainian Canadian community through a number of leadership roles, including as Treasurer of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada, and Treasurer of the Ukrainian World Foundation. He served seven years as the founding President of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada Foundation and is a past President of the St.Volodymyr Cultural Centre in Oakville. He has visited Ukraine on a number of occasions seeking business ventures in the oil sector.
