Sometimes in life circumstances force us to re-evaluate everything in our lives, including our career paths. With little or no control of what corporations do with peoples’ livelihoods, we are sometimes forced into making decisions that affect our lives and those of our families. Being your own boss is quickly becoming the new path for many people who can no longer rely on corporations and businesses to provide them with a lifelong career.
Let’s look at the world of controlling your own destiny with a talk about the benefits of entrepreneurship and the why’s and how’s of owning your own business.
Darren Lemke has been a business owner and entrepreneur for over 30 years. His many past business ventures include a courier company, a retail saddlery store, a light plastics manufacturing facility and a business which refitted the Polish military with new medical and dental equipment.
Darren is currently the president and founder of Approach Management Group Inc., which provides executive level management to independent dental lab owners across North America. He is also the owner of Lemke Ventures Inc., which helps companies outside of the dental industry with business development and refinancing, and is also currently exploring international opportunities in the wine industry. He also keeps busy as a speaker at international conferences and as a presenter of business webinars for dental labs around the world.
Darren has been a member of boards for both public and private companies, as well as non-profit organizations such as Tryzub Ukrainian Dance Society, where he has served as Treasurer, Vice Chair and Chairman. He is in his second term on the UCPBA Calgary executive, where he serves as chair of membership development.
With over 30 years as an entrepreneur, Darren has made many friends and connections around the world – which, as he puts it ‘is what being an entrepreneur is all about’.
Payment may be made online below or at the door by cash, cheque, Visa or MC. If you planning to attend, we would appreciate an RSVP by Monday, October 24th to admin@ucpbacalgary.org.
