Orange croppedIn the summer of 2015, retired Canadian Armed Forces Major Oksana Kuzyshyn was handed a unique assignment for a Ukrainian-Canadian: a 60-day stint in Ukraine helping the AZOV Battalion to acquire the necessary skills required to operate effectively with NATO forces, based on international NATO standards.  Her duties including instructing the officers on NATO army operations: lectures included tactics, staff organization, logistics, communications, procedures, air support and basic military skills.  Join us as Oksana shares the details of this experience with us at our March meeting.

Oksana Kuzyshyn, originally from Montreal, joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1985 and trained
as a Logistics Supply Officer.  In addition to numerous domestic postings in Toronto, Winipeg and Calgary, she has served in a logistics capacity with the Canadian forces in Israel, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Haiti. A recipient of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, Oksana is on the church council at Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, a long-time member of CYM and is currently president of the local branch of the League of Ukrainian Women in Canada.
