UCPBA Calgary is honoured to announce that our 2016 Outstanding Award recipient is Ruslana Wrzesnewskyj, founder of the charity Help Us Help The Children. After adopting an orphan from Ukraine  in 1992 and seeing the appalling conditions in orphanages there, Ms. Wrzesnewskyj has dedicated her life to improving the lives of disadvantaged and orphaned children and young people living in poor conditions in post-Soviet Ukraine. The charity which she and her husband founded in 1994, Help us Help the Children, supports over 200 orphanages throughout the country and provides those deprived of parental care with immediate aid and ongoing support.  Since its inception some 45,000 children have benefited from the charity’s activities, receiving supplies such as medication, food, clothing, or participating in educational program or anti-trafficking seminars designed to help them reintegrate into society after leaving the systems.  Other activities of HUHTC include summer camps, scholarships and prosthetics programs.
