In light of the ongoing war in Ukraine and the dire need for humanitarian aid both in Ukraine and among Ukrainian newcomers to Alberta,
UCPBA has been responding in a number of ways. We support numerous initiatives within the Ukrainian community in Calgary,
including fundraising as well as engaging with other organizations in their efforts to assist Ukraine and Ukrainians, wherever they may be.
For instance, members of the UCPBA Executive and Board of Directors sit on the executive, boards, or advisory committees of numerous other
Ukrainian-Canadian organizations, thus lending their leadership skills to these entities. Our own initiatives include organizing major events
which are open to the broader community with an aim to raise funding for Ukrainian causes.
As is well known, UCPBA Calgary has historically utilized available funds to support the Calgary Ukrainian community through providing
grants and scholarships to cultural, educational, and student groups. Furthermore, funds are entrusted to us from entities like the Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis Agency, the Taras Shevchenko Foundation, and others.
UCPBA Calgary manages these funds in the most effective ways within the guidelines of the grantors. Updates regarding these activities will continue to be provided through these web pages and our Facebook site.
Our greatest asset and resource of UCPBA is you. In this important time we look forward to work even more closely with all of you to assist
Ukraine and Ukrainians.
